Gonjong is a Minangkabau-language news portal created to help Minangkabau communities around the world stay connected with news, stories, and developments from West Sumatra.
Available at gonjong.id, the website publishes its content entirely in the Minangkabau language, giving readers a dedicated digital space where local information and culture can be shared in the language spoken by the community itself.
We built the website with WordPress and designed the publishing workflow around the needs of a working editorial team. Images uploaded by editors are automatically compressed and converted to WebP, helping keep page sizes lighter without requiring the writers to optimize every image manually.
The goal was straightforward: let the editorial team focus on reporting and writing while the website handles much of the technical work behind the scenes.
